WHAT IS CBD?

Cannabidiol is denoted by the abbreviation CBD. CBD belongs to the so-called cannabinoids - substances that are formed in hemp.    A typical cannabis plant contains over a hundred cannabinoids. We distinguish:

  • cannabis seeds (Sativa)
  • Indian hemp (Indica)
  • technical cannabis

Indica usually has a higher THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) to CBD ratio, while Sativa has a lower THC to CBD ratio. In wild-growing hemp (without human intervention), THC occurs in the largest amount, followed by CBD, and the rest of the cannabinoids are present in trace amounts. For technical hemp, the THC content does not exceed 0.3%. Specially bred varieties with a high CBD content are also referred to as technical hemp.

INFLUENCE ON THE ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM

The endocannabinoid system is made up of two cellular receptors, CB1 and CB2. These receptors are located on the surface of individual cells and influence various biological processes. CB1 and CB2 receptors react to CBD and subsequently cause various effects in the body, which are confirmed by many studies.

The endocannabinoid system affects everything from mood, memory, motor functions to the functioning of the immune system, reproduction, bone growth to the perception of pain, appetite and sleep. The main task of the EC is to maintain homeostasis in the organism. CBD and other cannabinoids help to restore balance if this balance is disturbed.

CANNABIDIOL VS. TETRAHYDROCANABINOL

CBD is created from the same substance as THC and differs from it in four atoms. Because of this difference, CBD acts completely differently in the body than THC. CBD is legal in the Czech Republic, THC is not. Unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive. THC has side effects, CBD minimal (when interacting with other drugs).

CBD ISOLATE

We divide hemp extracts into 3 basic types:

  1. CBD isolate
  2. Full-spectral extract
  3. Broad-spectrum extract

CBD isolate is separated CBD from hemp extract from the rule in purity from 95 to 98%, the remaining percentages can be made up of residual cannabinoids. CBD isolate is highly safe, contamination with toxic substances is practically excluded due to its high purity. Isolated CBD is therefore used in pharmaceutical preparations.
